Since downloading Firefox to my hp notebook w/Vista, I haven't been able to connect. Lately the message is that the site is not trusted, no certificate, etc. I had to go to a friend's house to get online to ask this, so my computer is no longer connected to the Internet so I don't have the exact wording of the error. Any suggestions?

Can you connect with Internet Explorer? If so, Firefox may be the problem. Uninstall and reinstall Firefox. Use RevoUninstaller (http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html) using the "Moderate" setting and delete all of your Fuirefox customizations, to remove FireFox. If not, then it's another problem.
1. Get into a DOS window and type "IPCONFIG" <ENTER> and report back with what appears (especially the IP address, and the Default Gateway).
2. Is there a hardware firewall between your computer and your Internet connection (Cable Modem, DSL Modem, etc)?
3. Try resetting your DSL or Cable modem and reset your hardware firewall, if you have one (unplug them, wait 10 seconds and plug in again). Turn off your computer. Turn off your hardware firewall, power-cycle the modem. Wait until the lights are flashing normally (probably 30 seconds or less), turn on the hardware firewall, wait until those lights are normal, and then boot the computer.
You might have to reset the hardware firewall, if you have one. There is often a reset button somewhere on it. Press and hold it for 30 seconds or so.
4. Do you have a firewall program (ZoneAlarm, for example) or an Internet Suite running. If so, try disabling them. Also, try turning off Windows Firewall (in Control Panel).
