Hi,
My dog a 7 year old shepard mix has been nudging me awake for the past few nights not every night but few nights a week. My daughter is 2 and has just moved into her big girl bed and since then; my dog has paced back and forth from her room to my room and nudging us awake with his wet nose. He does not whine but he will paw the floor beside each of our beds. In a related note my dog also has started to stare at my son (who is 4) just sit and stare at him. Why is he doing this? How can I get him to stop?

Thanks

Sounds to me like he is concerned for your daughter.
He knows that she is no longer sleeping in the bedroom with you and is wondering what is going on.

This behaviour may stop by iteself eventually but if it does not you may have to be prepared to crate your dog overnight or restrict it to another room of the house.

In relation to your dog staring at your son, my own dog does this quite often, he will just sit there and stare at me.. barely even blinking.
It is not a bad behavior (meaning he is not doing it for bad reason, quite the opposite actually), it is just irritating sometimes.
Unfortunately I have not found a way to stop him staring yet

Be thankful you have a dog who dotes on your children so much :)
