My problem I just can't take them I have tried but they have me in the bathroom all night but if I don't take them my Blood Preasure goes up can you help me with a name of another water pill that won't keep you in the bathroom all night that I can tell my Doctor about so he can change my pills. And what is a normal Blood Preasure for a 57 year old woman.

I have had high blood pressure for some time now and at 65 is l20/60. My doctor is pleased with that reading. He must keep you out of the stroke range with the meds he is prescribing to you. We can't diagnose or prescribe here on AMHD as not all people let us know their underlying health conditions and it isn't a safe practice for laymen to be involved in.

Edit: plus 10mg Ramipril and 30mg AdalatXL

Your trips to the bathroom will even out after a while. I am on 25mg of the same water pill as you, a higher dose, and only have to relieve myself once during the night. No salt for you either.

Your doctor is trying to keep you from strokes which can be very debilating if severe. Women are susceptible to strokes more so then men.

Everyone is different, what is a normal blood pressure for me, may not be for you. Leave it to your doctor to decide, please.

Good luck with your meds.

The short nickname for your med is HCTZ. Try taking it in the morning versus at night. The trips to the bathroom will ease up.

You said you take the same pill and after awhile I won't be in the bathroom as much ,after how long taking this pill will that change. And I am not a salt user my High Blood Preasure is hreditary from parents. Do you know what number is the one to be concern about the top or bottom or is it both. Thank You

Systolic is the top reading, diastolic is the bottom reading as l20/60. Both are important but Systolic blood pressure measures the maximum pressure in the arteries during the cardiac cycle, which occurs when the heart contracts, or beats, to pump blood. Both are important, but the systolic reading is paid more attention.

I have a blood pressure monitor to keep track of my readings. At one time it was critical that I do so.

Everyone is different, if your doctor believes that your blood pressure reading is acceptable for you then don't be alarmed.

As I mentioned. If you are not already, take the pill in the morning. I take Lisinopril with the HCTZ. I found I used the bathroom less at night if I took it when I woke up.

I have had hbp for 16 yrs and I can now keep it below 110/70 with my pills by going for a 60 minute walk every day, lifting weights a few times a week and eating a low fat/salt/sugar, high fibre diet with lots of fruits and vegetables. Also eat lots of garlic, and celery, they both lower bp.

First - tell your doctor of this problem

Second - take the medicine in the morning

Third - consider other factors that mey cause frequent urination: caffeine [ coffee, soda, tea ] intake, alcohol intake, total fluid intake, possibly a urinary tract infection, high blood sugars [ diabetic ? ]can cause frequent urination too.

If you are diabetic, black, have heart disease, or have chronic kidney disease the goal is less than 130/80

This or a version of it, is one of the m ost common blood pressure pills.

After getting used to it, it does make you go more, but not that much more. And if you take it in the morning, it should not even effect you that much at night, but as we get older getting up a couple times a night sometimes just happens.

My doctor has that 120/80 as a goal, and your doctor should tell you what his goal for you is. As long as I keep it under 130/85 by diet and exercise the doctor keeps me off medication.
