I have very low power to 3 outlets that will not power any electrical device. I checked with a light tester and the light is very dim.

Sounds like your house could be on half power. Call an electrician in to properly diagnose this. I had that happen to me one time and it turned out that it was the electric company's problem, not my home but I had to have an electrician test my house before I could call the power company in.

You most likely have a poor connection some where. Put test light between the hot (on the right) and the ground (if you have grounded outlets(three holes)). If test light burns normally, the poor connection is in the neutral wire. If not it is in the hot. Pull outlet and tell us how it is wired. Are wires under screws on the side or inserted in the quick connect holes in the back.
