What's the status of my amended tax return

Isn't there a number you can call that's toll free to the IRS. We can do that here in Canada to Revenue Canada, they are quite helpful and we talk to real people. I think you can find the number in your tax information or on line.

You can call 1-800-829-1040 and ask about your amended return.

However, you must wait for at least six weeks after mailing before calling. It takes at least that long for the amended return to be uploaded into the IRS computer system.

For an amended return this is the number you will be requested to contact.
