Ok so as silly as this may seem my ex girlfriend whom I dated for 3 yrs and lived together for 2 years is threatening me to take my dog away which shegave to me as a gift almost 3 yrs ago she knows that I currently don't have a legal status in this country .

What legal procedures can she take against me?

She could file paperwork in small claims court saying that you owe her money for the dog at best or at worst she could also call Immigration and Naturalization and report you are here without proper visa. As to what they would do, I do not know. Good luck

She could attempt to get you deported.

If she can prove that the dog is hers, not a gift to you, she can file in Small Claims Court.

Is the dog registered in your name?

Then the dog is yours - the problem is whether she'll notify INS -

Yes that's my only fear and I understand I could just let her have the dog but its just isn't fair for her to take him away that's my baby.

She threatens me and I filed a police report is there anything else I could do to protect myself from all her threats

You could just go back to your country of origin and then come back in a legal way. That would solve the problem in both ways.

Actually I did came in LEGALY and had a protective status that got screwed up because of immigration sending the renewal notice LATE but thanks for the advice
