I wan in an apartment complex and passed up my turn by a few feet. I put my car in reverse to back up and make the turn. While going backwords another car came around the corner and my back end and their front end collided. I felt I was at fault as I was going backwords, my car was not damaged but his was. He didn't want to call the police (he reeked of pot/ I imagine he didn't want the other problems that came along with the police showing up) Since my car wasn't damaged I gave him my name and number and went on my way. Should I still report this to my insurance company, or file a late police report (I live in ohio) or just let it be? Also is it entirely my fault due to the fact I was going backwords, or does he also have some liability for not seeing me either? Also, in Ohio, would his insurance cover his car or would mine or nobodies since we didn't make a report.

You were clearly at fault. (It's your word against his regarding the pot smell.) Did you get his name and address and insurance company name? You may be sued one of these days (after he has time to think about this).

ALWAYS get information from the other driver!

I got his name and number. I know I was at fault, that's why I felt bad calling the cops when he obviously did NOT want them there and his car was the damaged one. I'm happy to pay for the dent, but didn't know if it can go through indurance (if so whose) the pot was his business not mine, didn't want to get him busted for that too when I hit him.

The two insurance companies can duke it out. Your rates will probably go up. OR settle it with the other driver without reporting it.
