Hi,

My wife is expecting and is undergoing her 1st month of pregnancy. She had her last period on 11th Aug. We had received our first visit with a OB/GYN on 14th Oct by which time she will be 8 weeks pregnant. Let me know what kind of precautions, care, food that my wife needs to take as the appointment date is a little late. Can she take any kind of prenatal medicines?

Thanks,

Kiran

I would strongly suggest you see your doctor for advice before taking any medicines..

He/she will advise you on the health risks concerning food/ medicines in pregancy, especially in the first 12 weeks of your wife's pregnancy.

There are also many books on the market, that will give you information and advice on pregnancy and childbirth.

This isn't really late. Many docs don't see their patients until around 13 weeks since there is an incidence of miscarriage before 13 weeks. She needs to be taking prenatal vitamins, stay away from alcohol and cigarettes, as well as eat a healthy diet.

Prenatal vitamins are not by prescription anymore. You can buy them over the counter.
