In Colorado is it required/code to use concrete sheetrock in the bathroom shower area ? We live in a 3 year old home and the builder did not do this in our kids' bathroom and the soap holder came loose because of the wet sheetrock. There is black mold in their shower and the sheetrock and tile will now have to be replaced. Is the builder responsible for using the correct sheetrock ?

Thanks for your help

Call local building authority. Doesn't really matter, still the result of poor workmanship. Good luck on getting builder to fix. Assuming a poured shower pan, be willing to bet that the green board was installed. Then the shower pan was poured. Water in concrete and water getting in between the floor and wall joint has destroyed the green board. Green board should have been installed 1/2" above the floor after it was poured and the joint sealed with caulking.
