I've been looking for a job since January and my best friend helped me get one this week. After I told her the job pays 15 per hour she completely changed. Her job pays like 7.75 an hour, so I don't know if maybe she's jealous, I try not to bring up the job. But she's always like 'so now you can afford a new fone" or "so now you don't have time for me cause you got a job?" or when I tell her how my day when she immediately changes the subject and obviously too!
Is there anything I should or can do to stop all this nonsense. She's my best friend

I have been there with this. I am thinking she is jealous. I got my best friend a job at my bank I was hired at. I had more experience and time in then her. We were both part time. A great position opened up, she kissed butt to get it and I was the one left behind. I felt what your friend felt. I didn't want to hear it. I was jealous even more because I got her the job to start. That was always between us and we have never been the same. I miss her terribly.

Don't let this happen. Maybe you can buy her a little something to thank her for the help in finding the job. Ask her if she would be interested in working there if something opened up. Maybe if your close enough ask her if she is OK with it.

Try to see things from her perspective. A few weeks ago, you were the one unemployed and she's the one with a job. But now, you have a job that she recommended, which is doubled her salary. Part of her must feel like she wished she had tried out for your job.

I would give it some time to let her get over this. She should be happy for you.

However, you should also show her some appreciation. Again, you're earning twice as much as her, thanks to her help. Buying her something is fine, but I think the best way you can show her appreciation is to let her know that you will be on the lookout for job openings and would definitely put her up for recommendation.
