I have a four year old little boy. His dad has not seen him since he was two years old. He never calls and checks on him, ask about him, or ask to see him. He has never give me any money for him at all. I know that I can file for child abandoment now since it has been so long, but I need to know how to do that. If you could please help me without me having to get an attorney that would be great.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

You know you can file for child abandonment? How do you know this?

Child abandonment isn't something you file for. It's the grounds you use to file for something else, such as a termination of parental rights (and even then its almost never successful)

What is it that you actually want? Child support? You file for that by going to the court house and asking them to file for support.

I'm not sure how you "know you can file for abandonment" because where ever you got that information it was wrong. As Steve said you can use it for grounds to ask for something else such as a TPR but even that probably won't happen unless you are married and your husband wants to adopt. Have you gone to court for child support? If not he doesn't owe you anything if you do have an order for support then go back to court to have it enforced.
