From my doctor,

What and where exactly is the pain?

With my first I had constant pain. It felt like I had a broken rib and the baby was pushing on my bladder along with everything else. I couldn't even get comfortable laying down.

It may be nothing or it may be something.
If you explain the exact pain and where it is maybe we can have a better idea.

Nohelp, she has a history of lower abdomen pain.

This can give you some background:

Hey,glad your still hanging in there,I'm afraid I have no information that could help you, apart from rest as much as you can.

32 weeks is good, your both getting there, tell that baby to hang on for another bit.

You need to talk to your doctor or his nurses as soon as possible. If you have to demand the answers your questions. Your health and Jr's depend on those answers.

I hope everything goes well.

Is the discharge constant? Do your panties stay wet enough to have to wear a pad?

This could be that the baby just kicked your bladder. Happens a lot.

Dehydration can cause premature labor. It is important that you drink up to a gallon of water per day and DO NOT chew ice. Chewing ice can actually cause dehydration.

Yeah, I have to wear something with my panties, and the discharge is a lot at one time, but different times when I go to the bathroom, I'm trying to drik plenty of fuilds everything makes me sick, even water to a point.

Sep 21, 2009, 06:34 AM
Brittany, do you STAY wet?

brittanymommy08
Sep 21, 2009, 06:51 AM
Yeah,
I got a question what's the difference in inner and outer cervix?

J_9
Sep 21, 2009, 06:53 AM
The outer portion of the cervix is what I can feel closest to the vaginal canal when I do a vaginal exam. The inner portion of the cervix is past that and inside closer to the uterus.

Think of it this way. Take a bottle for example. The outermost rim of the bottle is the outer portion. When you poke your finger through the bottle and feel the rim inside the bottle, that is the inner portion.

When they say I have dailated 2 cm. and that's it. It meaning both. Right? At one time they were saying I dailated 1 cm outer and finger tip inner now they are just saying I'm 2 cm.

Yeah, they are staying wet

J_9

2cm is 2 cm. Let me see if I can explain it better. When you first become pregnant your cervix is closed. There is no opening that we can feel, it's porous so that the sperm can get in.

Now, when you get closer to labor your cervix starts to open. The opening you have is 2cm around. When I feel a cervix of 2cm, it's like sticking 2 fingertips in the hole in the cervix. As the cervix dilates even further I can get more fingertips in, so to speak, or I have to stretch my fingers to feel the rim of the cervix.

2cm is not uncommon for a second or third pregnancy at your stage of pregnancy. It doesn't mean you are in labor, just getting ready for labor. Active labor starts at approx 4cm dilation.

If you are staying wet and have to change your panties constantly, then you need to go to the hospital for a nitrazine or ferning test to see if your water has broken. However, since it's Monday, you can call your doctor's office to see what they want to do.

brittanymommy08

What makes you dailated?

J_9
Sep 21, 2009, 04:03 PM
Sorry took so long for me to respond... I had to get some sleep then take the daughter to the orthodontist.

Nature makes you dilate. A hormone in your body called oxytocin is produced when the cervix is manipulated (vag exam, sex, etc). Oxytocin makes you contract and dilate.

So, the contractions stretch out the cervix making it thinner and easy to dilate. Many women dilate without ever even realizing they are having contractions.

It's no problem,

Help, I have started spotting again today, it just started when I got home from work. I don't understand, I haven't been checked or had an sex. What could be causing this?

Cat1864
Sep 22, 2009, 03:31 PM
The best I can do is tell you to call your doctor (or the number for after office hours questions/concerns) and describe the spotting to him/them.

It could be hemorrhoids being mistaken for vaginal spotting or something more serious like preterm labor.

Hey everyone.
I called the doctor the other day after I posted on here they told me to come in and when I did they kept me at the hosptial for two days. I was getting a really bad uti. Causing me to spot. But while I was there I started contracting, which they stopped. Now I am on bed rest again and pevil rest which is fine by me, they did say I could go to work since I sit with this lady, I just wanted to give everyone an up date.

I am glad you and Jr. are doing okay. I hope all continues go well. :)

Sep 29, 2009, 02:13 PM
Hey everyone,
Should I still be spotting?
They said I had an uti, but I have
Taken all the meds for it.
I don't understand. They say it nothing to be worried about but I am. I don't want anything wrong with my little boy, I been spotting on and off, I go to the doctor Thursday and by the way I haven't been checked since last Thursday and I haven't had any sex. That might be information you need.

J_9
Sep 29, 2009, 02:16 PM
Spotting is actually quite common late in pregnancy. The cervix is highly vascular and any kind of exercise, even just plain 'ole walking, can cause spotting. Unless you are having bright red period like bleeding, then there should be no problem.

(Um, this is what I tell my patients when they come up to the L&D unit with complaints of spotting). Actually, it's part of our discharge teaching.

brittanymommy08
Sep 29, 2009, 02:22 PM
It only when I'm wiping, it just little spots but more then it was

J_9
Sep 29, 2009, 02:32 PM
It's still okay. As long as it's not bright red period like blood and you have to wear a pad.

Remember, you are nearing the end of your pregnancy. Things like this happen just because you walk. It's okay even if you go into labor now, you are passed the miscarriage stage.

brittanymommy08
Sep 29, 2009, 02:36 PM
Oh okay, thank you so much,
It just last time it was a really bad
Uti and I odnt want anything going wrong

Please keep us posted. When exactly is your due date again? You should be close to 38 or 39 weeks by now. Right?

brittanymommy08
Sep 29, 2009, 02:54 PM
No, my due date is nov 16.
I still got a month 1/2. but
I don't feel like I will make it that
Far.

J_9
Sep 29, 2009, 03:28 PM
You may not make it that far, no worries though. Remember, due dates are all just a guessing game.

brittanymommy08
Sep 29, 2009, 05:12 PM
Yeah, I know,
With my little girl, I was schedule to
Have a week later than I did. She came on her own, I'm a very active person. They want me to rest when I can but it hard with my 10 month old. I try though. I can't wait for my water to break. I'm ready to have him. I'm not happy with anything anymore. I hate walking and I laying down. I can't wait for the day he comes

Is 5lbs & 8oz big for a baby at 32 weeks

J_9
Sep 30, 2009, 06:53 AM
For some reason I thought you were further along than 32 weeks.

Remember that ultrasound is not an exact science in getting the weight of the baby. We call this Estimated Fetal Weight (EFW), and I have to record it with each of my patients.

My EFW with my youngest child was 8lbs 6ozs. He actually weight 5lbs 12 ozs, so just know that this is an estimate.

Your baby's weight sounds about perfect to me.
