Hi All,

I was given a pot plant at work and have no idea what type of plant it is, and no one can seem to identify it.

It only likes partial sun stands about 30cm tall and is a really twiggy plant. Kind of looks Oriental. Has delicate green leaves at the end of the branches.

It was going really strong at work till I brought it home put it on the deck and the dog demolished it :(.

If anyone could tell me roughly what this plant was I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

CherieNZ

Hi, CherieNZ!

If you could post an image of it here on this thread, that would be helpful!

Thanks!

Sorry as mentioned the dog demolished it and it is a goner :(

I want to get another one, and was just wondering what it was called so I could get another.

You have nothing left, to even lay the pieces out? Or did the trashman pickup?

I googled Oriental twiggy plant delicate green leaves at the end of the branches - Google Images (http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&safe=off&rlz=1C1CHMI_enUS335US335&um=1&newwindow=1&sa=1&q=Oriental+twiggy+plant+delicate+green+leaves+at+t he+end+of+the+branches&btnG=Search+images&aq=f&oq=&aqi=)

And came up with this JC Raulston Arboretum - Connoisseur Plants - 2005 (http://www.ncsu.edu/jcraulstonarboretum/horticulture/connoisseur_plants/connoisseur_plants_by_year.php?year=2005)

Then googled new zealand plants - Google Images (http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&safe=off&rlz=1C1CHMI_enUS335US335&num=100&newwindow=1&resnum=0&q=new%20zealand%20plants&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi)

I thought of azaleas http://www.bonsaigardener.org/bonsai-articles/uploads/azalea-large.jpg
AZALEA : Bonsai Care Guide (http://www.bonsaigardener.org/azalea-bonsai-care.html) they can get twiggy...

You wouldn't believe it this is the stem, found completely by chance, I thought it had all gone.
At the end of each branch tip were the delicate green leaves.

If it hasn't been too long since the "accident", there still may be some hope!

I've listed several links that you can use to try, and make cuttings that may root.
One item you will need that you may not have is rooting hormone, it can be found at any nursery, maybe even a big box store that has a well stocked garden center.

At the bottom of Types of Cuttings try to stay with a heel or mallet cutting.

This is a 22:14 video on cuttings from you tube:

If you decide to go this route, make sure everything is clean, you will even see the word sterile, but don't let that scare you. Also make sure what you use to make the cuttings are as sharp as possible.

Questions? Post back. Are you 12hours ahead of me? Its 11:45pm edt here in the States. And I'm only going to be up for 'bout another hour, but I'll check in my mornin' 'bout 7am... Your 7pm?

~ Edit ~
I checked on the time difference for Wellington, your 16hrs ahead of me, so... my 7am is your 11pm
