I switched my circuit breaker that controls the electricity for my whole house just to be safe when changing a light fixture. But now it won't stay on the 'on' position. I have tried turning all the other circuit breakers back off but it still won't let the main circuit breaker turn on. Does the circuit breaker need to be replaced?

I don't know if you tried this or not, but some breakers want you to press it past the OFF position and then flip it on. You might try that.

Hope this helps,

I had the same thing happen to me. Changing a light, easier to shut off the main than find the right breaker, turn it on but won't stay.

I had to have it replaced. The electrician had to pull the meter and then the power company had to retag it.
