The bathtub hot water doesn't work unless I turn the cold water faucet on first. The hot water faucet makes an awful noise if it is turned on first. Now there is very little (if any) hot water coming out. How do I fix this? (Tired of taking cold showers)

Need to know the brand and the model number of your faucet, Thanks.

I really don't know. There is no writing on it. The set has a hot and cold water knob. The faucet has a pipe running up for the shower.

You probably have a loose washer on the hot water stem or debris in the hot water line. Remove hot water stem. Inspect and make sure washer is tight. Briefly turn on hot water and flush out hot side of faucet. By turning on cold water first you change the volume of the hot side so it acts differently than when you turn on hot first.

So you have two knobs faucet and I agree with Harold, the washer at the end of the stem sounds to be loose, shut water to the faucet, remove the Knob, remove the stem check the washer if it is loose tighten it check the condition of it if it is worn replace both the hot and the cold washers, good luck.

Great answers above, do as they say and let us know how things work out. Lee.
