I got a soreish electric shock last night in my finger. It made me jump but wasn't too bad and it was from a wire in a lamp. There is no mark there or anything. I feel fine and although I jumped back in shock that was it and it only lasted a second. Could I have killed my baby? May see doctor on Monday for reassurance but was wondering if anyone knew of silmilar experiences where baby OK?

I'm not an expert, but my assumption would be that your baby is fine. I think that a shock that would harm the baby would also harm you. If you have the right amount of electricity going across your heat, that's the danger. The shock you felt in your finger would have been quite a bit smaller in your core, i.e. where your baby is located. But if you want, maybe check with your doctor. Or other experts could weigh in?

Well from an electricians point of view I'm sure everything is OK. If its off the a lamp in your home then its only going to be a simple 120 volts of electricity wich is kind of harmless. However if you feel uncomfortable about it consult with a doctor just to make sure. Good luck.

THanks so much. It was a wire behind a temporarily uncovered light switch actually - sorry said lamp but presume that's the same? Still feel pregnant and sick but Google really made me panic by saying that electric shocks kill foetuses!

The internet is the best way to become super frantic about an issue. I am guilty of it too. Something's wrong, or happens, and I search Google, and all of a sudden, I think the worst. Anyway, your best option is to check with your doctor.
