Try this, for a start.

Learn to Burn: Understanding CD-RW (http://www.computorcompanion.com/LPMArticle.asp?ID=123)

How to Burn Your Own CDs / Home Recording dot com (http://homerecording.com/burn_cds.html)

For simple burning software, I recommend InfraRecorder

InfraRecorder | Get InfraRecorder at SourceForge.net (http://sourceforge.net/projects/infrarecorder/)

There are a lot of other programs that are excellent.

You need a CD or a DVD drive that has the capability of burning CDs or DVDs. If you don't have that, you can't do it.

Well... actually. There are a few issues here to consider:

A. What sort of computer are you using and which operating system. That will determine a load of issues.

B. The Number of photos has a lot to do with which you require.

I recommend Picasa, from Google.

Picasa 3: Free download from Google (http://picasa.google.com)

Makes it simple to keep track of the photos, and then you can burn a gift cD.
