I just received a summons of continuing garnishment from my place of work that was served to them I don't know how long ago. From the looks of it it has a date stamped on it of aug 05,09. It says that they have 45 days to respond. What do at this point? How much of my wages can be garnished? Is here any way I ca find out how much it will be. It also says that they have to turn over my entire paycheck. Can my entire check be carnished?

If your wages are garnished and you file bankruptcy what affect does this have on the garnishment?

Who issued the garnishment? Usually, there is no chance to respond, it's a legal order that needs to be implemented immediately. They usually can't take your entire check. Were you aware that a judgment had been entered against you? How much do you owe? If you file for bankruptcy, you may be able to get the garnishment put on hold.
