My dog seems to be slightly off colour! We went away for 5 days where he had a good time in and out of the sea and many other water places. Then he spent a day and a night with friends and their dog ( He doesn't really know them!) At first we thought that he was just tired from his holiday, but he just doesn't seem right. He's drinking 2/ 2and a half full bowls of water and eats part of his food and just seems to sleep a lot. He is a 16 month black lab, who is quite shy and fairly quiet, but seems to be a bit more so. He's always been a bit odd about his food, but normally he will be quite palyful and want attention when we are sat watching the TV, but he goes up stairs and goes to sleep on our bed! And most of the week we've had to get up any where from 2.30am to 5am to let him out once and even twice in a night. I really don't know what to do, we are thinking about taking him to the vets but sometimes they do all kinds of tests and find nothing and you've spent lots of monry to be told nothing!

He's your dog for 16 months and something is wrong. Maybe he just missed you. Maybe he didn't eat/sleep when you were gone.

And maybe he's sick.

You need to take him to the Vet.

Thanks for your replys. Well I took him to the vets today and she looked him over and took a sample of his wee and they couldn't find anything wrong! She has given me some tablets to give him over the next 7 days and to see how he gets on! Oh and a nice bill for £70 to tell me she's not too sure what's wrong with him! She thinks he might have a slight urine infection, as he was in and out of different water from when we went away! But it seems that when he needs to wee he just goes where ever he is ( Even if it is inside!) My carpets have never been washed so much!

Unfortunately animals and their care are expensive - a sad fact in today's economy. Good news there is nothing wrong with him; bad news that he continues to have problems.
