I am operating a white MacBook (08) and got a message while I was surfin' that I had a major trojan attack and that a Windows program was there to root out all the bad stuff. I had to force quit because Safari was shut off. I do have Microsoft Word for Mac on this machine When I just logge on stuff seemed to be OK. Should I get this machine checked? How do I get it checked?

I thought Mac weren't subject to these viruses, worms, etc.

The sites that warn you that you are infected are malware sites wanting you to download their trojan or other malware.
For the most part, as a Mac user you are safe from Trojans and viruses. Most of the malware in the wild is written for the Windows platform and will not run on on a Mac. This dose not mean that you are bullet proof there are viruses in the wild for Macs and a anti virus application is still needed.
More than likely you do not have a virus You should get an anti-virus program for your mac. I ave only used on because my work requires Norton for Mac I use it and have nothing to compare it to, so I can not make an informed suggestion on the subject.
