The guy I like goes to a university that's on the other side of the country... we've known each other before that but didn't connect until recently. I need guy advice: If you were going away, why would you ask to see a girl's hand and hug her like you mean more than being friends, then say that he sees me as a friend and it wouldn't work because he's not going to be here? Is he lying because he's logical or did he just mess with my head?

He lives on the other side of the country, he may believe that you two are friends, but I highly doubt he means that its anything else. Its to hard to have a real relationship if he lives that far away from you, even with being friends I'm assuming you aren't going to be classified as one of his really close friends.

He told you the truth, because he doesn't want the commitment to a long distance relationship. That's why he broke this off, so you both can move on.
