Hello,

I have a few instances in my new home where 2 light switches control a single fixture (all in kitchen). How do I get them to sync up so that they are all all in the "off/down" position at the same time? As it is now, one switch is always in the on position and one off. Thanks!

If u are saying u want the switches up for on and down for off, this is not possible with 3 way switches.

If u look at switch lever u will see that it is not marked with on/off.

When one switch is moved to turn on light, both switches are activated to turn light off.

Take note that when multiple switches are used for one light, there will always be two 3 way switches, and 4 way switches for more that two switch locatiobns, and none of these switches have "ON" or "OFF" stamped on them, in other words there is no on or off.

If you have only 2 switches involved, remove one and turn it over.

If you have more than two switches, don't bother, poltergeist come a long each night and change them just annoy you.

Hi Harold

Have both switches in the down position with light off.

Turn on light at sw1 -switch 1 is up switch 2 is down.

Turn off light at sw2-switch 2 is up and switch1 is up.

This is nature of the beast.

No way to have switches always in up position when on .

We just went through this a couple of weeks ago, primarily because there was nothing else going on at the time.

You have to get rid of the up/down concept of being a visual indicator. You have use a like/unlike concept.
Personally I like;
Like=on
Unlike=off

That means both up or both down = on
One up and one down = off

Some people prefer the opposite. Some people don't care.

There isn't any right or wrong, only preference.

So basically there is no way to get both switches in the "down" or "up" position at the same time?

50 per cent of time switches will be in same position.
