I am brand new to this very informitive site, and I would like to know how to put these existing wires from the old Honeywell murcury t-stat, which has a green light on the front to show when the heat is running, a red light, for emergancy heat. My system is a carrier heat pump. I would like to keep from changing the settings manuelly from heat to A/C, just have it set and not have to check it all the time.

wire from wall terminal

Pink = X
Red = R
White = W2
Green = G
Orange = O
Yellow = Y

Black jumper from E to W2

Thank you very much

To do what you are wanting to do you may have to purchase a more expensive thermostat because not may thermostats do that automatically.

You are right, I did more research and found this T-stat is not the right one for this heat pump system as it doesn't offer any emergancy heat, or terminals for it.
Thank you for your reply
