My husband's ex-wife took their son to the doctor (where she works) without his
Permission. The doctors office was out of our insurance network, so the insurance didn't pay much of the bill. She didn't get my husbands permission to take him there. If he would have went to our family doctor all we would have had to pay was the co pay.
She put the bill in my husbands name and now she wants my husband to pay the bill and she is harassing him about it. Is he resposible for the bill even though she took him to that doctor with out permission (my husband is the custodial parent) we live in Indiana

Was the medical visit a necessity? What does the court order say about custody regarding medical care for the child?

Well his son is 19 yrs old and a senior in high school... it was for a petty cold. That's what I mean... he is responsible for like the first 1000 of out of pocket... but she didn't get my husbands permission and that's why he doesn't want to pay... its only 265 dollars but my husband says it's the principal cause his ex-wife is so nasty...

How was she able to put the bill into your husband's name and on his insurance without having his insurance information?
Is the $265 the full bill or only half of it? Typically, she should be liable to pay for half of any uninsured medical bills but I don't know what the court order says or what agreement they came to in court.

Why did they charge so much for an office visit ? I think that's the real question. The fact that it was done and it was a needed visit assuming there might have been other issues. From the sounds of it they ran some kind of tests for something other then a cold.
As far as the bill is concerned its up to the stipulations in the court orders. Most have it split 50/50 so Im not sure where this first $1,000 figure is coming from unless it's the nature of the insurance policy itself.
