Hello,

We had our AC that leaks for a couple of weeks. We finally had the leak repaired. The room just near the one there is the A/C is finished. We had black mold on it. We cleaned it several time but each time it was coming back. Finally, we identify the A/C was leaking, we solved the problem of the leaking, then clean the sheet rock in the finished room. That's it! The mold has never come back. The only problem is that there is still a strange smell in the room. The humidity source has been removed and the mold has been cleaned.

Is there anyway to get rid of this smell without changing the insulation and sheet rock?
Thanks in advance.
Wally

Many molds are black so don't assume it's the "black mold". Once inside sheet rock the sheet rock should be removed. Even slight humidity will keep the mold eating the sheet rock, its food to mold.

Thanks for your reply.

Even if the humidity problem has been resolved and the mold marks are not coming back?

The mold is still there, you must replace any rock that was wet.

What are the risk of doing nothing?

More mold and possible health effects.
