I am a 17 year old girl. I live in Indiana I have looked at the law of emancipation but I don't know how to get it started. My mom kicked me out when I was 16. My father lives in Florida and I lived with him for about 6 weeks last year but it iddnt work so he sent me back. I was living with a friend but then moved in with my aunt. My parents still have legal guardianship but I'm ready to be on my own. I make good grade in school. Im a senior and I have plans for my life. I want to get out of my aunts and live on my own. I can do it. I have mostly done it my whole life. I work hard and make descent money. One of my friends and I plan on moving in together and splitting the bills. I know ill be fine. Both of my parents don't want me so I want to be emancipated so my life can be easier and I can move on and be happy and stress about my life not the ones they have made for me. Please help me. I need avice on how to get this started. Thank you

You need to have your mom take you before the Judge and sign that she is okay with your being emancipated.
Here is the emancipation law for Indiana
State (http://www.bostoncoop.net/lcd/emancipation/indiana.html)

How long before you become 18? How old is your friend?

The emancipation process is generally a long one. So its possible you will turn 18 before its finished.

Since your parents have kicked you out, there is no one to really stop you from living on your own. The real problem you face is in signing a lease for an apartment. A landlord is not likely to rent to you because you can't legally sing a lease until you are 18 or emancipated. So if your friend is over 18, she can sign the lease. Or if you will be 18 soon, just wait for that.
