What is the typical amount one would be charged for an embalming, small... I mean 6 people, small service and a cremation? Urn was nothing special...

I don't think you meant to imply that you were embalming six people, with a small service included were you? That's how it read to me.

All you need to do is visit your local Funeral Home. They will advise you what services they offer, and what they cost.

There are so many variables to this situation! Cities with a higher cost of living, tend to have higher fees for all things. A number of funeral providers in your city tends to bring down the price a bit. However, prices will go up with 'autopsy repair' and if the decedent's body was brought from a distance. Having said all that, you can expect a charge anywhere from $1500 to $3000 dollars.

Under federal law, all funeral service providers must be upfront, complete and transparent with all price inquiries. You are also allowed to provide your own urn (an urn is ANYTHING that holds cremated remains).
