I might be hung out to dry for this, certainly not my area.
Looks like a yellow sac garden spider.

The picture is a little blurred on my monitor, but it looks like Redhed got it right.

Because of the way this spider is standing I think it is a crab spider. I couldn't find an exact match for your species, but here is the Google image link for the general term and some close matches: crab spider - Google Images (http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&sa=1&q=crab+spider&aq=f&oq=&aqi=g1&start=0)

That yellow flower crab spider does look almost the same as the OP's picture. Can we get a clearer shot?

Lets hope the OP returns to confirm or post another pic.

Thank you all for your help. After reviewing the posts and having seen the spider first hand, my guess is the Goldenrod Crab Spider. It had very short legs as opposed to the longer legs of the sac spider and the color is spot on for the Goldenrod variety. I have not seen it again since so unfortunately that is the only pic. Thanks again for putting the mystery to rest:)

It's very cool, whatever you do, don't kill it.
I love spiders. Sadly, too many people are terrified of this unique creature, even though
There are very few poisonous species out there, and chances are most of us will never run into one that could actually hurt or kill us.
It's a beauty. I hope you see it again, get better pictures. :)
