Hi Coach:
My understanding here is that you CAN'T replace the vapor sensor... :( What makes you so sure the vapor sensor is gone... not easy to locate this?
When I last called rheem, I was told that once the vapor switch has expired the water heater is considered to be dead. However, most water heaters with a vapor sensor are still under warranty and replacement will be covered by warranty (heater itself... usually not the labor/parts to re-install). You will need the model and serial number to confirm warranty.
Give Rheem customer service a call at: 1-800-621-5622
Give Rheem technical support a call at: 1-800-432-8373
You can check warranty here: Rheem Product Warranty Registration and Information (http://www.rheem.com/warranty/) Click on the warranty verification utility prompt on screen
Let me know if they confirm my statements above... O.K.?
Thanks...
