Well I have a cat, less than a year old.

I have a large fleece blanket, at night time when he come to lay with me and then he starts licking my blanket!

I hate it. It's gross. I usually move his head and tell him no, or flick his nose.

How do I get him to stop this.

I don't mind that he sleeps with me, but I do mind sleeping on a slobbery blanket.

Can you believe I actually spelled my name wrong it was Hasra- haha.. I can tell already that this is going to be one hell of a day

Oh my gosh, is he cute! My cats love fleece. If I'm wearing a fleece sweater, my older cat sucks on it while kneading on me. The younger one does a quasi-sexual kneading on fleece blankets, while sucking on a corner of them!

I'd find a smaller, cheap piece of fleece at a fabric store, and pull it out for your kitty when you go to bed. Maybe you can train him to stick to his own blanket. Good luck...

Get him his own blanket, different color, smaller, of course?

The only real way to get him to stop is to remove the blanket..

I'm going say what my 2YO would say "Noooooo it's minneeeee".

Gah.

Well I'll probably end up getting him his own fleece blanket.

Darn.

Maybe a stuffed bear made from fleece...
Or you could buy some fleecy fabric and sew one up.

That way it's still fleece but it will be an actual 'thing' not just a blanket, easier to tell apart ;)

Put some catnip on his blanket for a while, and see if that gets him in the habit of using that one instead of yours. Keep his in the same place. Cats are creatures of habit after all. (Just a wild idea, I don't know.)

My cat is 12 and guess what not broke of licking the fleese. And I agree with you it is gross to wake up to a wet spot on the blanket. I have tried everything to get her to stop and she starts with her blanket then ends up with mine, gross. So solution is no more fleese for me until cat is gone on to heaven. Yes she has her own fleese blanket just for her(spoiled rotten cat). Oh well not spoiled just well loved.

Hunter is adorable.

In helping him tell his blanket or toy from yours, you might try:

Using a different detergent or fabric softener on it.

Put yours up when not in use but leave his out.

Put his over yours so that he licks his. Gradually move it over where you want him as he gets used to it.

One other thing, giving him his treats on his blanket so that he associates it with licking up crumbs.

Good luck. Cats can be very hard headed and persistent if they really want things their way.

Thanks for all the tips guys!

Unfortunately Hunter does not like catnip. Not a catnip sort of cat I guess. He's been doing pretty good. I guess he figured if I lick it I get flicked in the nose.

I found a cute little pet fleece bed online so I'll be ordering that for him ;) Just maybe it'll work.

Ooh! What an adorable kitten.

I think the kitten misses mommy, we had one kitten who loved to sit on our laps and lick on our t-shirts while purring, but the habit stopped as she grew.

Could there be some sort of cleaning liquid that a kitten will not like?Maybe a lemony smell? And when you get Hunter's own blanket, you could wash yours with something Hunter hates the smell of, he will prefer his own blanky. :)

Get him a basket and let him sleep beside you on the floor =P
