My friend was wrongfully accused of being a fugitive for breaking parole in California in 1989.
He got time served for assault after 11 months in a county jail and was never told he had to report to any parole or probation officer. When being released, he was told he could head back home to Texas. Then about 8 or 9 years later when stopped for a minor traffic violation, the officer arrested him for parole violation in Calif. He was bailed out and showed up to almost all the court dates, except for the last one because his attorney told him he was going to be taken to California. Is he in the system as a fugitive? What can he do if he really got time served and left nothing pending in California?

If he got the sentence he says he did, there WILL be a record of it in California. It looks like he's going to have to go there...

He MIGHT have somebody to sue after this is over, though.

There will be a warrant out for him by this time, so yes he will be wanted, and if he is ever stopped again, most likely he will not be able to bail out this time, since he basically jumped bail.

If you used a bailsbondmen, I would be working with them, since they have a lot more flexablity in getting the person to bring them back ( so they don't lose the money they promised)

** a several hour ride in the trunk of a bondsmen car is a lot worst than a ride for a few hours in the back seat of a police car.
