My sister Lives in paris and she has husband who is kind of psycho. He abuses them both emotionally and she would like to get a divorce from him with full custody of her child. Although she has never reported him to the police or taken any action against him. Her son is 13 years old and she is totally alone, with no relatives or financial support. I would like to know if there is any government help or any kind of help for a single mom who doesn't have place to stay.

That is a situation she should not tolerate. Why is she still living in the same house with him? Options are a womens' shelter until she gets on her feet and I am sure there are some in Paris.

If you Google resources in France for abused women, there are a lot of options for her, starting with a national organization, with a phone number to get her started.

She can also visit her family doctor, a lawyer, and check the yellow pages for counselling and resources for battered women.

She can visit a University in France, and seek out help from their counselling department which can provide brochures, phone numbers, safe houses, etc.

She can get a lot of good information from local police services, community services, hospitals, clinics, hotlines, social services and various women's organizations.

If her freedom to access any information is a problem, i.e. he won't allow her to use a phone, or computer, then intervention may be necessary via a third party.

But, if it is a matter of her stalling, or not being aware of what resources are available to her, that is an excuse. Paris is a big city.

Be careful not to be too drawn into a situation that leaves you worried, and preoccupied with her health and safety. She needs to start taking steps to get herself out of this abused relationship, and only then will you be able to offer support.
