Hello

My 20yr old son has got himself into financial difficulties by defaulting on a personal loan and mobile phone contract, as such the respective companies are chasing him for monies owed. Thankfully he is addressing this now.

However when he took out these credit facilities he was living at home and as such received the credit partially based on our address. Although he moved out a short time later and informed the companies of his new address I am concerned that his bad credit may affect me obtaining credit in the future, i.e. a bad credit mark against my address. He did not get into financial difficulties until he moved to his new address and changed his address with the respective companies.

My question therefore is will this bad credit mark come back to my house and how to I check this and rectify it necessary?

Thanks

If you didn't sign anything I do not why it would affect your credit Check your credit report.

If your son has a similar name to your (Jr, II, etc.) This could affect your credit. Otheriwse, he was legally entitled to enter into contracts on his own and it should only affect his credit.

Make sure you get your free credit reports and check them.
