My son's Father has never seen him and is not on the birth certificate. I never took him to court for child support or legal actions. I really didn't want him to be part of my son's life, and thank God, he hasn't. This is my question. I am getting married and would like my future husband to adopt my son. Does my son's biofather have any legal ties to him? My son is now 2. Since he has been abandoned from birth, and is not on the birth certificate, do I have to try to contact him to reliquish rights? What is the process and how hard is it for him to become adopted. Thanks for your time and God Bless!

There are a thousand questions like this on this site - if you use the search feature you will find them.

The father of the child has most likely not abandoned the child legally (according to the laws in your State) and must agree to the adoption. If he agrees it will go smoothly. If he will not agree then I would pursue him for child support - that very often causes the father (who now has to pay support) to decide to sign the adoption papers.

A "future" husband cannot adopt. You must be married and in a stable relationship, usually for one year.

Your best source for specific info for you is an Attorney in your area.
