For years now, my sister and I have been trying to unearth an old commercial we remember from when we were growing up in the mid or late 80's.

All we can recall is the catchy jingle which sounded like a 1940's style (male) singer and he sang "Data, Data...Da da da da da da-ta." And there were mimes or clowns in the video. I'm assuming that since he was singing about data and only data that the product was something in that area.

I'm really, really hoping someone knows what I'm talking about. Not sure if it was a regional commercial or not - but we grew up in the NY/NJ tri-state area.

Thanks. :)

Somehow I doubt I'm ever going to find this commercial again. :(

I just read your post, which lead me to think about one of my favorite ads from the 80's (a Shasta commercial with penguins and a light- up piano), and I found this web page that has a listing of favorite 80's commercials, you might be able to weed through what they have and find your commercial! Good Luck!

Like I said, my commercial started with S, so that's where I was on the page, maybe you want to start with D?
