I am starting my own Interior Painting Business. I'm not sure exactly how to go about giving an estimate. How do I know what to charge? Is it by the hour? If so, How much?

Hi, wlj!
I just titled and moved your question from the old thread of someone else so that your question will be recognized as being your own. This place doesn't operate the same way that a chat room does. Any new questions asked on threads that aren't in some way an answer to the very first question at the top of the page need to be asked by starting a new thread.
I came upon your question by accident when searching a forum topic area. Your question wouldn't have been noticed unless someone had done that, because that particular thread is now archived and isn't available anymore on the new pages of this site.
Here is the link to where you had posted your question.

Did you read the information that was on it? There was quite a bit there.
Concerning your question now though, have you had actual experience working for someone else in order to make a profit for yourself? Also, what will be the manner in which you'll be applying the paint, by roller, brush or spray?
Most professional painters charge by the square foot when rolling or spraying large surface areas, like walls and ceilings. Things that are usually painting by brush would the trim areas. Usually, the charge is by the linear foot.
How much to charge will depend on many factors, about which we can discuss as we get into more specifically as to what you're wanting to do.
Thanks!
