Hello everyone,

Thank you to all who participate in helping each other resolve their questions.

I have a GE profile refrigrator which is about 5 years old... it suddenly started to not cooling anymore... I adjusted to a cooler temprature but it just stopped altogether... it is a freezer top and the freezer woks just fine...

In searching for answers one possibility they say is the fuse or circuit breaker none of which I can find...

Any help would be appreciated... cheers... bxb

If the refrigerator is running, it is not a fuse or breaker. A couple of checks. 1st check the settings, asumming both controls are located in the refrigerator section. The one that goes from OFF to 9 would be the thermostat that cycles off the refrigerator when it reaches temp. The other is a air damper witch regulates air flow from the freezer to the refrigerator section. If it is closed off only a min of air reaches the refrigerator. You can hold your hand over the vent inside the refrigerator and feel how much air is coming out. When you move the dial you can feel if the air increases or decreases. 2nd Make shure the light goes off when the refrigerator door is closed. The heat from the light staying on will create too much heat and it will not cool. 3rd Check the location of the evaporator (the coil that gets cold) in the freezer. Is it on the back wall or on the floor of the freezer. If you have frost that looks like it is covering the floor or wall (depending on location of the evaporator) Then the problem is with the defrost cycle. Defrost timer. Heater or defrost thermostat would be the problem. Other things to check for would be more in depth. Just start with these.

Most likely the defrost timer, stuck in defrost mode.
