I'm post menopausal, 47 years old and recently my nipples are sore to the touch. Any ideas what it could be? I have a mammogram scheduled for next month...

Hi, greenbrae. If you are post menopausal the sore nipples could be as simple as hormones, as in a drop in estrogen, a chemical occurring in both men and women. Although there are other reasons for sore nipples and it should be checked out with a mommogram, which you will having shortly.

Common reason for sore nipples is usually a sign of pregnancy, but since you are 47 and didn't mention that was a worry for you, I doubt that is the cause.
