I have a 1862 one dollar bill and I am listing some of the things I see on the bill. Act of July 11th 1862, series 268 40617 treasury of New York, Washington, on the seal it states, thesaur amer septent sigil, There is a letter A in the left bottom corner.

The bill is in great condition it has no folds that are visible to me, the corners are perfect.
Can anyone help me with the value of this?

Yes, it does look like that but there is no red ink on it. What it the difference?

I too have a bill that looks almost identical to this one. The series is 268 and the number in the upper right hand corner and the lower left corner is 40617 rather than the number in the picture. It also does not have any color in it. Please let me know, is it worth anything or a counterfeit? Thank You for your valuable time.

I too have come across the Same bill described by telekonich... same 40617 serial number, etc. I believe it is a fake as it must have red ink to have been legitimate. Likely a copy made back in the 40s... maybe used as an advertising scheme... unfortunately, my best efforts thus far say it is worthless.

I also have that bill wth same series and serial number 40617 with no red ink they are fake they have the sam serial number I'm just curious to where they orginated from

I have one that is on green paper in mint condition with no red ink with 268, 40617 serial number on it but it's dated August 1st 1862? Anyone know if its worth something>

All of them are from Richmond, but all very different, but all printed on red ink background.
One dollar dated 2.June 1862 its No 355
Two dollars dated 2.June 1862 No2473 seems to be signed by hand, also the number is written with ink
10 dollars 2. September 1861 No 77389 series A12
100 dollars 17.Febr1864 No 801

Does anybody know how much these are worth?

It is a counterfeit. 40617 comes up for sale every couple of months on eBay. It is a reproduction.
