I am going on 9 days with this pink eye, I have missed 6 days of work, thank God I have a great daughter to help with housework and my younger boys.
Puffy eye.
Red all over the inside and eye lid.
Body aches.
I have already gone to the doctor, she gave me oral antibiotics and eye anti's.
I called 5 days later to tell her it wasn't any better, and she would not see me, she referred me to an eye specialist.
I went and he said it is not bacterial so the antibiotics won't help, he gave me a cortozone eye drop.
I can't take this anymore!! I need some serious help here... I got to get back to work, and I really want to feel better! Any ideas on what I should do to speed this up? Thanks in advance!

Do you wear contacts?
I have had pink eye and I have also had an infection from a cut from my contacts before.
The symptoms are very similar, but if it's an infected cut on the surface of your eye, you should be OK to go back to work, it's not contagious.
What did the eye doctor say?
A Cortozone eye drop would be prescribed for a scratch not for pink eye, at least that is what they did for me.

This pink eye is highly contagious and since I serve people food, I can't go back!
The eye doc said it's viral, so I have to wait it out. Nobody wants to even hug me nor do they want to see me this way, it went so far as to infect my whole body it seems. I got this from my daughter, she had the same symptoms and she got better in ten days... I don't see me getting better tomorrow! Thanks though Justy;)

You feel ill as well as having eye symptoms, that sounds awful. You may have a mild flu plus the scratch? Or viral infection in your eye.

The most quick way I know to get an eye better is to close it. With children, you can't stay in the dark with your eyes closed all day. Get an eye patch. I use a metal one from my ophthalmologist that I tape on... It's a beautiful thing! NOT. A pirate-type patch would work. Eyes heal quickly when undisturbed.

Hope you feel better and can get back to work soon.

I am sorry, I have never had pink eye that long, but yeah pink eye is highly contagious and you wouldn't be able to serve people.

Hope someone comes along with some better advice, until then take care... I imagine that your keyboard will be getting a good washing. :)

I used to get this quite often when I was teaching pre K and kindergarten.I used an eye wash.A shot glass with clear water just to soothe that itchy feeling.Be sure to clean it extremely well before you use it again.I would nuke it to kill any germs.
Here is a brief explanation of viral conjunctivitis.Hope it is helpful.

Viral pink eye

The leading cause of a red, inflamed eye is virus infection. Adenoviruses are the type of virus that are most commonly responsible for the infection. Viral pink eye symptoms are usually associated with more of a watery discharge that is not green or yellow. Often, viral "cold-like" symptoms, such as sinus congestion and runny nose, are also present. The eyelids may be swollen. Sometimes looking at bright lights is painful. While viral pink eye may not require an antibiotic, those affected should see a doctor, as occasionally this form of pink eye can be associated with infection of the cornea (the clear portion of the front of the eyeball). This infection must be correctly detected and treated. Viral pink eye is highly contagious. The symptoms of viral pink eye are pronounced for the first three to five days after symptoms appear, with slow resolution over the following one to two weeks.

I read that already Arty! Thanks, I have been looking to try and speed up the healing process, my doc said that it isn't just pink eye, it spread into the DEVIL!! It spread through my body causing "flu" like symptoms and I am not feeling good... 9 days and I am starting to get a little depressed. I will come through, I just wish I knew when! Thanks guys, you are great!
