Hi I am very confused at the moment, as you know I recently asked a question to whether I could be pregnant an since then I have had some other symptoms like nausea but never sick and some severe headaches. I have taken a clearblue digital test today at 7 oclock this evening and it said I was not pregnant!! But why am I feeling like this and could it be wrong as I didn't take the test with the first morning urine and I had just been to urinate 50 minutes before taking the test.
Is the sickness all in my head as I want to be pregnant or is there a chance that the test was wrong due to the above factors
Please help x

Your fist morning urine is requested for a reason.First morning urine is considered the ideal sample as it contains the most concentrated presence of hCG. ((human chorionic gonadotropin)

Many times you will get a false negative ,either because you took the test too soon or did not follow directions.

Know also that many times premenstrual symptoms can mimic pregnancy symptoms.

Stress can cause headaches and also throw your cycle off.

You need to try to relax and wait two days and then take the test again.

Thank you I was just very confused because in my last question I put that I have just come off the pill and obviously my periods will be irregular but I had a slight one where I just spotted and now I have quite a few symptoms. So is the test I just took not really effective due to the time I took it? X

I would say taking it in the evening probably had an impact on the result.
Also not all women have the same level of HcG at the same time.I could be two months and get a negative and you could be 2 weeks and get a positive.Simply because everyone's levels are different.

Also different kits have different sensitivity levels. With 20 - 25 mIU/ml tests, high sensitivity equates to early detection of pregnancy. That means you can begin testing accurately as early as eight days after conception.

It does take some women longer to conceive after coming off the pill.

If you still get a negative after your next test, you can have a blood test taken.

Thank you, I did think it was to early to conceive as I came off the pill in July (beginning) but the sickness got the better of me and made me wonder. I am trying to conceive so that is not an issue with me, I am just confused. I think I should wait a week or so then do another test is that ruight? X

Yes,I think a week would be a good amount of time. Its also very important to try to relax.
I know that is easier said then done when you are trying for a baby but stress is really counter productive. Some studies indicate it can also impede conception.
I hope you get the results you desire !

I just thought that I would clarify my symptoms with you
* Sickness - I've not actually been sick just feel really sick especially after eating
* Wind - (sorry) Feel like I need to burp all the time and sometimes nearly sick when I do this
* Headaches - quite severe need to sleep them off
* Tiredness - want to sleep all the time
* Toothaches - feel like my teeth have been stripped bare and a funny taste in my mouth sometimes

<y period is due sometime this week (tomorrow) but I haven't had cramping yet and usually I do get cramps
I have had one normal period 6th July and one of very light spotting 3rd August lasting 2 days and this is since coming off the pill. Hopefully you can all see why I am confused... is this a sign of pregnancy or coming off the pill? Or am I stressing over nothing x

Stress can also cause the symptoms you are describing because you could develop ulcers, upset stomach, and muscle tension (yes, that can affect the feeling in your jaw/teeth) as well as headaches and fatigue.

If you're period is due this week, your symptoms could be pregnancy, or they may not be. Most women will not feel physical signs of pregnancy until 5 - 6 weeks gestation or later (once your period is a week or more late). And yes, coming off the pill will also cause the same symptoms you described.

Basically, the only things you can do are:
1. Take a early pregnancy test like the pp suggested - with first morning urine - read & follow directions carefully
2. Wait and see
By the time your period is late, a HPT should give an accurate result. It would be very rare at that point to get an innacurate result, but should you have any doubt, call your doc and request a quantitative blood test for pregnancy.

Thanks, the only reason I am unsure about my symptoms is the period I had on 3rd August was very light and I didn't need to wear anything so I was told that this could have been implantation bleeding so I c;lassed the 6th July as my last normal period which could mean that I am about 6-7 weeks pregnant if I have conceived. I hope that helps in providing me with advice x

If you are that far along, the HPT should have read positive.

That first sort of non period you had could have been from coming off the pill.

Sometimes it takes up to six months to regulate your hormonal levels to where they should be after stopping the pill.

I never had any of the symptoms you describe in early pregnancy.I had tender and enlarged breasts ,a little more frequency in urination, that's about it.

It is really difficult to go by symptoms alone in determining pregnancy. The most reliable is a missed period.

I understand that but then again my predictions could be wrong I am only guessing. I guess like you said its just a waiting game now and I am sure I can do lots of practising in the mean time to help me forget about it! X

Katt,

I understand that you're confused but I think you're beating this to death.

The fact is:
- You have not had a + pregnancy test
- You recently came off pills, which can take several months to affect your body.
- You have had periods since then
- PMS and early pregnancy symptoms are similar - the same in some women
- We're not able to examine you and give you better information that we already have. You MUST see a doctor for true confirmation of a potential pregnancy.

The period you had on August 3rd SHOULD be counted as a true period.

Let me tell you about my experience coming off the pill.
1st period - almost exactly like they had been on the pill
2nd period - came a day early - VERY light - just spotting
3rd period - came 7 days early - VERY heavy
4th, 5th, closer to normal but still a bit "off"

What you've described so far is pretty typical for coming off the hormones you had in the pill.
