I wish to support a load of 4000 pounds on 3 H beams (or W or I beams). It will be a permanent dead load. The load will be placed in the middle third of a 15 foot span. The load is a hot tub measuring 7 feet on a side, therefore the beams will be spaced about 3.5 feet on center. The three beams will be joined by crossbars near there ends and at the edge of the load. Any advice as to how deep a beam will be required?
Thanks for your time.
Bill

Hey Bill, not sure where you are but a permit will likely be required and the local codes will prescribe what you need. Many inspectors will also require an architect stamp or engineers seal.

You Have to get an engineer
