Should the panel separating the freezer from the refrigerator on a side by side refrigerator be hot to the touch where the doors come to rest?

It should not be hot to the touch, but should be warm because there is a heater against the surface that the magnetic gasket seals on. It keeps the gasket pliable for a good seal.
