Is there anybody here who either collects old money or currency and could possibly give me some direction on how to determine the value of an old bill? In detail its an 1863 confederate bill printed in richmond. Seems to be in fair to good condition.

Hi, grimm45!
First, are you sure that it's genuine currency dating from that time? There were a lot of counterfeits printed in subsequent decades. The best thing to do would be to take it to a coin shop where it can be examined in person.
If it's genuine, it could be worth in the hundreds or even thousands of dollars, however, more information would be needed from you as to what's printed on it in order to help you with that.
Thanks!

Well there aren't any reputable coin shops near my location. But I did look at some other bill very similar to the one I have. The only thing that concerns me is what I believe to be a signature on the bill was different. Other than that the bill was obviously hand cut and not machine cut. Its in really good condition compared to the other ones I found and it was found in an old boot in an old house being renovated. I could keep describing it to you or I could send some pics of it. If you think it'll be of any help.

Hi again, grimm45!
If you could post some images on this thread of both the front and back of it, that would be helpful.
We don't guarantee results here, but we can try!
Thanks!

That's all I ask for. I won't be able to do so today as I'm at school for right now. The bill is at my work and I'll have it up by tomorrow morning.

Hi again, grimm45!
I'm glad for that and will look forward to seeing images of what you have on this thread! Please make the images as large as you can, within the confines of posting images on this site, so that things can be readilly seen here.
Thanks!

Here are some pics I took this morning. Did the best I could on short notice, if you need some better quality pics I'll make sure I find the time to take my time in doing so.

Thanks for posting the images, grimm45! You did a great job!
I will do some research on this and get back to you, here. I promise you that!
Flying Blue Eagle is the Expert on this site who has the current documentation about what you're asking. I'm not sure what has happened to him, since he's not been on the site in awhile. I'm very concerned! He and I have worked in tangent on many threads like that one that you've started here. I will try to find out what's happened to him. I do know, that he had been having some health issues; had been in and out of the hospital and was having to drag around the oxygen thing...
I just went out tonight, and bought the 2010 Red Book for the pricing of United States coins so that I can help people with information that they might want to know about them.
I plan on buying a book to help with current information concerning United States paper currency, also.
Thanks!

The Red Book is what I've been hearing about lately. My bosses have been meaning to get around to buying that book but they have yet to do so; I'm actually considering on getting it for them. Sorry to hear about Flying Blue Eagle though. My best of wishes for him. Thankfully Google has led me hear to this site. I find it hard to contribute back though.

Hey,
My bosses have ordered the book but it has yet to come in. I was wondering if you have purchased the book yourself and if so what do you think this bill is worth? If you feel like you can't honestly answer that is okay. Throughout my life I have always found a second opinion to be almost invaluable. Again thank you for your time
