My girlfriend had a fight with her child's father. His mother and sister got invoved trying to restrian him from hitting her. He slapped her and choked her. She called the cops to have him arrested. When the cops came his sister got upset that her brother was being arrested and lied to the cops and said that my girlfriend scrathed her. The cops then arrested both my girlfriend and her child's father. They both got out in a couple of days her with an order to stay away from the sister and him with an order to stay away from her. All of them violated these orders and continued to hang around each other some more. My girlfriend went to court and had the charges dropped against her child's father. The sister did not drop the charges. With in a short period her and the sisiter got into a verbal argument. The sister spitefully called the cops and hours later they showed up to arrest my girlfriend for violating the protection order. She was arrested and 2 days later when she was arraigned it came up that she had a 15 year old warrant from 1994. She was held on a $1 bail and was remanded to Rikers island in nyc due to having this fugitive warrant from New Jersey. She was eventually sentenced to 30 days combined for both arrests. By the time she was sentenced she already was there for a month. Then she started going back and forth to court for the fugitive warrant. So up till now she's been there 35 days past her 30 day sentence 65 days total. What I would like to know is how much longer can they hold her. Oh I forgot to mention that she signed extradition papers two weeks ago. I have called nj several times so they can pick her up and they haven't come. When I spoke with them it seemed as though the 1994 case was so old and that they were not too interested in picking her up. When do you think they will release her. By law how long can they hold her. I should also mention that the case from nj isn't serious and it was a misdemeanor.
