If I have a company fill out my paperwork for a name change for my children, do I still have to take out a ad in the paper to make sure no one is using my children's name? That's what the NYC court clerk told me. Does the company I hire going to do this for me?

That's a question for them. I've never heard of a company providing this service, and if there are, I'm sure they all don't do things the same way... If they can't answer or WON'T, I wouldn't hire them.
