Hello,
I have a 10-year-old dalmatian. He is a little overweight.. not sure exactly by how much, but the vet said he was:p I was just wondering what I could to help him lose this weight.
He has a medical problem so he can't go for walks, but he has lost quite a bit of weight playing with our younger dogs.
He gets about a cup and a half of food a day..
Hmm.. Don't think there is anything else I need to mention..
Any suggestions?

Make sure he gets no table scraps and is not stealing the other dogs food. Just like a person over weight he needs a strict diet.

What medical condition does he have>\?

He has seizures... They can happen ay any moment, and after he doesn't have the strength to move, so the vet recommended he not go for walks.

Also. The dogs get fed seperatly so we know exactly how much each dog eats and that there eating the right food (one eats puppy chow, one eats small breed dog food, and he eats senior dog food).

None of our dogs eat table scraps either... But he does sometimes get carrots :)

He can still have physical activity.
The no walking is just so he doesn't havea seizure a long way from home and then you can't get him back.

You could invest in a treadmill or just play fetch with him in the backyard for an hour a day.

There are special foods for overweight dogs, I won't mention brands but just check the packaging, they are labelled accordingly.
