I was wondering why it takes so long and if there's a chance that he could get out! Should he have hope? The stolen property was way over 5000 usd

He should have hope. He should also have a lawyer. He should have money for bail. He'll live after he's done.

If he DIDN'T waive his right to a speedy trial, then the charges will be dismissed - but he probably did. He DOES have a PD, doesn't he??
