View Full Version : Roof location for vent stack

I am in Hawaii and would like to re-route my vent stack location.
The two current vents (2" ABS) have been threaded between my rafters (for no apparent reason) and I would like to straighten them to be in line directly above the plumbing wall and out the roof.
The catch here is that we have a corrugated metal roof sitting on battens attached to the rafters, with about a 3 ft soffit overhang from the outside walls.
Is it permissible to poke the vent line out the roof in this soffit overhang area?
This way if the vent stack roof seal ever fails, is dimply drips outside of the house on the soffit, and not inside the house.

Just wondering if this is a good plan or keep the vents as straight shots up and out the roof.

JBK.

This would be permissible in my area, (Tampa Bay).

Vents are not drainage lines so the same laws don't apply. While bends will impede the flow of liquid they will not bother the flow of air in a vent.
Good luck, Tom
