Hey Everyone,
I have a Ltx 1842 and the motor died  and I have the chance to buy a Ltx 2146, but the deck is bad :( .
My question is, can my Ltx-1842 Deck be put onto the Ltx-2146 mower? The both have quick release decks. The Ltx-1842 has the handle to engage the blades and the Ltx-2146 has an electric button to engage the blades, if that matters at all.
Thanks for your help! :D

Hi,
Off the bat I would guess it is possible because they are probably the same frames. Some of the hangers may need to be swapped as well.
The clue to what has to do done will be in the actual model numbers under the seat; it is 9-11 alphanumeric characters that describe the actual machine. "1" being mower, "3" being rider, next 1-2 year and series, next 3 are the frame and style, next is deck letter and last 3 are the vendor.
Peace,

Thanks Clarke
Here are the part numbers for the mowers: http://www.oscar-wilson.com/MANUALS/TROYBILT/13AT609H063.PDF pages 14 and 16
I would think the 1842 deck could go onto the 2146 mower. I am just not sure how the electric blade engage would work since the 1842 has the bar you have to push forward.
Thanks,
Matthew

Hi,
Took me awhile to find the correct URL. The breakdown you gave is all-well-and-good and I have used that site here, and about half a dozen others. It does not show the electric clutch.
From what I can tell the tensioning mechanism must be changed for the primary belt. Most of what is on the tractor with the 42" ought to work. Just taking a couple of moments glance showed the idlers and some other pieces should swap; did not check spring or belt, and there is a difference spring-wise as manual uses two and electric uses one.
This owner's manual is far better as it shows both manual and electric versions:

Thanks Again Clark,
I just had the chance to buy the Ltx-2146 for $375 and it comes with an aerator with the from pulling bent, but bendable, a three bagger with small holes in the bas, mulching blades and only 114hrs on the motor.
Now another guy told me he could put a 14.5 to 18hp motor in my 1842 for $300
What do you think is the better deal?
Thanks,
Matthew

Hi,
Sounds like the 2146 is a good deal. Check steering and front wheels for excessive play. Try to find out service history on engine.
I gather the other deal is a used engine; I do not find any new ones discounted like that. Short blocks are a good way out; that is the entire internal innards.
This link seems to be about the best of the engine houses, just barely.
